what cpu/mem combo should I go with? I want something that allows the gpu to git after it but not spend a fortune on it.

oh and a dvd/cd drive that's quiet?

Two sticks of cheap Mushkin 512MB from newegg.com and a A64 3000+ S754 or something.

yeah that's the cheap way what's the right way. specifically am i shortchanging the 6800 with a socket 754 mobo?
