I know the wired controller will power on the system... I know the remote will power on the system... And I'm pretty sure that the wireless controller will, as well. (But not positive.)

no really, i thought they have the patent on the ABXY buttons as well as the cross, hence you'd rarely see the cross on systems other than nintendo's
