Mod warnings in threads

Sometimes, when a thread contains numerous pages, several people get out of hand and a moderator has to post a warning to the succeeding posters. However, when reading a long thread from the beginning, a poster might respond to a post that was made in the beginning, prior to a moderator warning in later pages about that specific post. Not everyone is lazy by not reading the entire thread before posting and might mean no harm responding to something they don't know has been warned against. Even reading the whole thread, a poster might scroll past a warning too quickly, but when it's in the OP, which everyone reads, all can see it.

Would it be possible for warnings to be updated in the OP as well as the last reply as they used to be?

I think it would be even effective if mods PM the warnings directly to the users. Because, chances are that if a mod post the warning in a thread, it just may get overlooked.

I believe they already do that.

I have missed a mod warning and gotten a ban, over something frivolous too - not really banworthy. I tried pleading my case and got ignored. That was before the DerekWilson regime which brought about change, but since he's been gone for two months I'm seeing the mods' old habits starting to creep back in. They say the more things change, the more they stay the same - I'll believe change when I see it stick long-term.

Meh. The thread the OP is whining about didn't get a note in the OP because I didn't want to detract from the subject at hand. I felt that if I edited the OP that too many people would feel compelled to comment on the edit or look for the post that caused the edit.
It worked out fine.
