Mod Help warn others about lookalike NF7-S!

Oh the humanity!

It seems that Abit has wiped out in spectacular fashion and is marketing a horrible board with near exactly the same moniker as the most often recommended newb OC board of all time.

Worse, seems that Newegg fell for it. The details are nearly the same as listed on Newegg, but the hardware is substantially different especially in the OC dept!!!!

Don't post here - See: http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview.cfm?catid=29&threadid=1361075

Mod: can you sticky and lock as an alert for a couple days?

I posted the preceding here in CPU/Processors and Overclocking and here in Motherboards forums.

EDIT: please deleet the one in Motherboards as simms edited the title of the original thread.

If you could lock them and sticky for a couple days it would help get the word out and keep things neater around the site. I was going to ask for bumps, but not in multiple places and the original thread title in General Hardware (not mine) is not spaztic enuf. Also feel free to change my titles or whatever to be more effective, reasonable, etc. Would be a great news article for AT!

in ur sig, why does the nf7-s2 suck? minus soundstorm and multiplier thingy was fixed by TicTac.

If tictac fixed the multi issue, well, that's good to hear. Still, the ready availability of features important to OC's is what made this mobo so highly recommended. For abit to make such a board lacking these features and naming it so there will be obvious confusion is wrong. There will be many disappointed people (as there already are).

An important function of forums like Anandtech is to help others in choosing hardware so that obvious (and costly) mistakes are avoided. Example: "Help ! somethings wrong. I just bought this 256MB FX5200 and can't play Doom 3 at high settings!" (I predict we'll see stuff along these lines soon).

By pointing out the diff between the *real* NF7-S and the *imposter*, I think is helpful to our members and those who just lurk here.
