MOD double standard when it comes to misleading thread titles?

Seems we have a double standard when it comes to misleading titles in P&N.

A thread link with this title:
"Senator says Obama will lose because he doesn't love America"
Was created at 1:49 PM today.
The title suggests that the Senator said Obama will lose because he doesn't love his country, but the Senator said no such thing.
What he actually said, and it is in the thread is:
"Do you really want to have a guy as commander in chief of this country when you can question whether or not he really loves his country?" he asked.

Then tonight at 11:21 PM we have this thread created with the title:
Obama slips and admits his Muslim faith
What Obama really said was:
"What I was suggesting -- you're absolutely right that John McCain has not talked about my Muslim faith. And you're absolutely right that that has not come."

At 12:44 AM the MOD posts the following in thread.

Now it seems to me that both threads have misleading titles.
And that both are misleading in a nearly identical fashion. I.E. put words into some ones mouth that he never said.

But why does one thread get a MOD post and the other gets ignored?

He didn't call out a specific mod, and almost all of the threads in this forum are about a moderators action. I was under the impression that if you have a problem with a specific mod, then PM Derek, but if you have a problem like this, then this is the forum to use.
 
Under the new rules, the Moderator that made the comment should have identified themselves.

Misleading titles should be kept to a minimum - let the FUD stay in the post themselves.

Titles and summary's show up when looking through P&N and should not be non-factual.
Published gossip and/or misleading titles from other sources should have to be accepted, but deliberate twisting of a title to satisfy ones twisted ideals does a disservice to the reader and lowers the credibility (if any) of the poster

Oh so that titles not misleading:roll:

I'm not going lock or change the titles of your thread or the first one you linked as neither of them have the potential to really spiral out of control like the second thread you linked if the title hadn't of been changed. The context of the OP in that thread remains the same so I see no harm or no foul besides the Mod not ID'ing himself which is definitely against the guidelines. If you want to persue that I suggest you PM Derek.

I think I made my point.

I just think if we are going to crack down on titles for being misleading we should be even handed. I think putting words into someone's mouth is about the worse offense we can have in a forum like P&N. Especially when it occurs in the title.

If you're going to make this a broadside attack on all mods, maybe you don't like the forums enough to stay. I am not locking your account. I am just suggesting that you may want to search for forums where the mods are "fair and balanced," at least from your own perspective... PLEASE!

No, no Harvey, let the man whine. We aren't about censoring though he'd want to use us to censor those whom he disagrees with .
 
It is not about censoring, it is about applying an equal standard.

It took 20 mins for a MOD to respond to the Obama misquote while the other misquote is still up there.

And my comment about MOD bias was a joke, notice the little smile face.
I get bitched at for not adding a smile face to my sarcasm so I add a smile face and still get bitched at. I think you guys take yourselves too seriously at times.
