Has anyone had any experience w/ mod chips for the ps2? I was looking around and Im not sure what is the best one. I was just checking to see if any fellow Anandtechers knew which mod chip was best. Also has any progress been made on a possible xbox mod?

Actually, a friend of mine was telling me about his workings with those today. Coicidence :) Cool. Anyway, he toasted his Playstation. Like... made it a piece of trash. Don't know anything about it, but be careful.

hmm, unless you're an expert at soldering, the neo 4 (which doesnt require a game shark to play games) is not for you.

it has like a ton of wires that need to be soldered. ive seen pics of it online and it looks like a mess.

there are other chips out there that you use a game shark and a mod chip to play imported games.

Look for a Neo4 or preferably a Messiah mod chip.

Be prepared to solder, as the Neo4 has ~44 solder points on both sides of the circuit board. The Messiah is a bit better at ~26 solder points on the circuit board.

Both will be hard/expensive to find since Sony cracked down on the people that produce them.
