Mod an old Dell-Intel P3 mobo to run a 133 FSB?

Soon, the P3 that I'm currently running at 731MHz (5.5 x 133) will be returning to it's momma; a stock Dell rig. The Dell has one of them OEM Intel motherboards...dunno the model number offhand and the box is in a box right now. 😛

If possible, I'd like to run it at 133MHz...but the Dell BIOS offers no kind of adjustments.

The chip WILL do 133 FSB at stock voltage...so some kind of "soldering mod" to change the FSB would work for me.

Just curious...not that there's an obvious performance diff b/t 550 and 731Mhz. 😉

Ideas?

Have you thought of software overclocking? Heres 2 programs

Remove a pin off the CPU itself? Shouldn't be that hard...I have a pair of mini-wirecutters. But I don't know if I want to ruin the CPU. Links to this remove-pin-thing?

jdiddy: Software overclocking? No, I had not thought of that. It's a idea though. Thanks!

I have done it to tualatins, mobile p4's and normal p4's it just alters the chip default bus speed to 133. if you insulate the pin with nail varnish it has the same effect.

Thanks, Mignon; I've never heard of that before. Will check that out more thoroughly. 🙂 I'm not sure if the motheboard supports 133FSB chips. It is a Dell/Intel OEM jobbie...from like...1999-2000.
