city of industry, you walk into their will call office thing and there's a stack of assorted as-is motherboards. 7 day warranty against defects the sign says. Mostly socket A stuff for both SDRAM and DDR. Saw Abit, gigabyte, asus and shuttle boards.

Unless they've changed their policies on that stuff in the will-call area, there is no handling charge and payment is cash-only.

well I asked them and they said they're boards that are RMA returns, so they don't come with all the accessories and stuff.

So basically, you're doing the RMA testing for them. If it works, you get to keep it in exchange for $20.

The woman I asked said they were all tested and they work.

I'm not too clear what she meant when said RMA tho, cause the board manufacturers have RMAs too and resellers get back "RMA" boards, which is what I thought she meant, but you bring up a good point.

I dunno, I've read other posts where people buy boards that work fine from that stack. That's how I found out myself. :D

I love MWave. For the amount of money I spend there, the $5 will-call is worth it. Haven't been there in a month or so. Time to make a purchase.

i was told i have 7 day warranty and board was tested and all

my board is not booting up

and the other guy i met in the store couple days ago, brought his mobo, and told the lady, it fried his CPU... all they did was exchange to same one.

*as for the stack of mobos... maybe they re-stocked the 'bad' ones that was returned by US!

i'm going there and see if they recycled them or not.

Yeah, mobo can fry cpu if regulator dies in short condition rather than open or if voltage jumpers not set right. Probably other conditions can cause but can't think of right now.
