Hi i'm looking for a motherboard with TV-OUT our Video-OUT built into the motherboard itself.
I need one for a AMD cpu, likely duron. can be any chipset doesn't matter to me.
I am building a small desktop case that will be put into the living room as a entertainment center
so if it can be, i would like it to be a microatx board also

Check out the Shuttle SS40 barebones system. It has TV/SVideo out on it. You could get the motherboard separate too.

Also if need be you could grab a small barebones system and put in a PCI Radeon All in Wonder with TV in and out on it...Is there a specific reason why you need integrated or is that just something you want to have?

If you just want something with onboard VGA out, tons of motherboards have that. But you need a semi-expensive converter to get it hooked into a TV. You would be better off putting a PC together and buying any cheap GF2MX with Video out.

Edit: I've been looking at something along the lines of This from MSI. It takes Socket 370 CPUs like the celerons or P3s and it does include composite, Svideo, and VGA out, along with most every other port you could possibly need integrated for slightly under $200 (no CPU, RAM, HD).

Have a look at the Elitegroup BookPC barebones. These always have TV-out and 5.1 audio right
from the start, and come in neat small (and quiet) cases ideal for the living room. Shuttle aims
at the same spot with their SV series.

i can't seem to find a store that sells either the ECS or the MSI system anywhere in North America.
i would like it integrated because then I can use a FlexATX case and because of that I don't want
a regular Desktop case sitting in the living room (just for appearances and looks) and I want it to
look like a regular entertainment product (like the size of a vcr, dvd) etc

also, why would I need to buy a converter? is the quality of the output really bad, or?

Well the BookPC series is on the ECS website ... www.ecs.com.tw. They often are sold as
brandless or shop brand barebones, so just shop around for BookPC.
The boards in there are a special form factor btw, even smaller than FlexATX. No expansion slots
usually, none needed anyway. They use chipsets that have DVD decoding hardware, 5.1 sound
(C-Media 8738 chip), TV-out, LAN and sometimes 56k modem as well.

If you want it to be quiet, put a VIA C3 "Ezra" processor in. These easily cope with a fanless heatsink,
especially in I/O bound applications with not much CPU work like hardware assisted DVD and/or sound
replay.

Newegg sells the MSI systems.

Just go to
Newegg's Barebones MSI. I believe you will probably want to look at the 6215T-020 ($189).

90W seems rather low but then if it was too low MSI probably would put a higher wattage PSU in the system...That's just how I rationalized it. :) I haven't heard much about these systems but none of the admittedly few user reviews on newegg mention any power issues.

PS-If you buy one please write up a little review. :) It's so hard finding decent reviews and information on the smaller, integrated systems. It's always the newest and fastest when in some cases the smaller, older, cheaper systems might be better.

It's not that the tv-out quality is bad, But a scan converter will let you hook the vga output of ANY video card to your tv without the need for a dedicated tv-out. Prices for scan converters start at around $80 and go up to around $200..
