I am looking at ECS K7SEM with Sis 730 chipset and ECS K7VMA with VIA KM 133 chipset. any suggesstion wichone i should go for?

I've heard a few satisfied users of the K7MA but not the K7SEM. Acutally it'll only cost maybe another $50.00 to get a non integrated video mobo and a GF2MX video and probably get a lot better performance on video and mobo or system in general. Get ECS K7S5A and then find a good bargain for video card at the For Sale/Trade Forum. You'll probably find a GF2 MX for less than $40.00.

I've gotr a K7VMA in my primary rig. It was running great for 5 months, with the CPU oced to 112 fsb. The ATA/100 wasn't working but that didn't really effect performance. I found out recently that I all this time had been running my RAM @ PC100, silly me. Ever since then I've been having issues when running the RAM at PC133 and oced. It will be giving me trouble when at a mild oc (105fsb), and PC133, using the fastest timings (CAS2, 2-Bank Interleave) but when I switch the RAM back to PC100, problems disapper. I'm trying to figure out weather I just can't oc at PC133 (whch Is understandable, it's not an ocing board), or weather this board has some serious issues while running @ PC133. I'll let u know how it turns out. From what I know, K7SEM is a great baord though.

Well I guess your problem is not related to the mobo. It's the RAM. If you want to overclock the system while running at PC 133 you really need good quality RAM sticks that works with CAS 2 at 133 or even you might need PC 150. I think most likely case for your system instability is the RAM you are using not the mobo.
