My 8KHA+ has bad capacitors. I'm looking for a used replacement that has the same chipset, IDE controller, etc., so I could just swap out and wouldn't have to bother with changing drivers, yet doesn't have the kown capacitor failure rate the 8KHA+ has. Is there one?

I would go with an asrock k7upgrade with via kt600 chipset. It's $52.88 shipped at gearxs.com. Not many socket a boards left. I couldn't find any with your exact chipset. You might find one on ebay used. This board is close enough that windows should load. I would start in safe mode and load the cd drivers. Windows will then reconfigure and reboot a few times. You should end up with a faster board overall. The via kt600 chipset is faster than your old board.

I have an 8kha+ that I'm temporarily using until my new motherboard arrives next week. I may consider selling it if you are interested.

I hear switching chipsets doesn't always work well. Have you or anyone else had good luck doing this?
