Not neccessarily, not all socket 478 cpu's will work on all socket 478 boards. You have Williamette, Northwood, and Prescott based chips, plus 400, 533, and 800mhz FSB variations, and not all socket 478 boards will support all of them..

As long as your 2.4 northwood is 533 or 800mhz FSB it will work with that motherboard. If it's the 400mhz FSB varation, it's not supported.

Yep it's a 800 FSB. Thanks! :)

By the way, how do you know this stuff? Just by trial and error, or from what you've heard, or did you read it somewhere? -Just curious. Thanks.

I had a lot of different socket 478 motherboards and chips. It's the same thing with LGA775, there are several differant chipsets used with LGA775, not all of them support all LGA775 cpu's.
