ok, i wasnt sure whether or not to to post here or in overclocking, but this just seems more appropriate.
i recently upgraded my mobo from the asus P5GD1 to the Gigabyte GA-8GPNXP Duo, and got some new ram (2x512 crucial ddr2 pc-4200) so i could overclock my proc (3.0ghz prescott) past my previous limitation (3.8ghz). phew.
anyway, i got my ram today, and started the overclocking. i can get to a 245 bus, but anything past that, even 246, and the comp resets the proc to its stock 200mhz bus, 3.0ghz limitation. i THINK, but am not sure, that it is ram timings, but i cant find those options anywhere in the bios.
so my questions are these:
1) am i missing these options, or are they just not there on this board, which i thought was more geared towards overclockers
2) do you think it ram timings, or something else
for the record, i was able to hit 4.0ghz on my old board, but i got ram errors, so i know this proc can do better
thanks for reading through this long-winded post, and thanks for any help
