guys Im building a machine for a friend, its a p4c 2.4 on a asus p4p800, stock fan
at stock speed and under some load the asus probe and mbm5 show 47-50 mobo, 45-50 cpu, most of the tipe its 47/45 with the mobo being hotter, usually its the other way around so im wondering if the sensor is BSing me or Im just still on the amd wave

please let me know

Thanls

It's usually one of three things that cause this:

1) Yes, your thermal sensor could be messed... but that's a generic explaination.

2) If you are using an application to read your mobo temps, it might have them reversed. In this case, just deal with it and understand what is going on.

3) Since the CPU temp can't be cooler than the ambient temp, the sensor on the mobo could be caught in a "hot spot" or something on the board. Locate it, and see if the mobo sensor is getting the right airflow in that area. Some sensors are in between PCI cards, where air can stay kinda stagnant. If this is the case, consider putting a fan on the side of the case next to the PCI cards to move that air.

This is the normal situation for the P4P800 series. There's plenty of posts over at OC forums and Asusboards forums from when the board first came out. The CPU sensor reads about 8°C too low.

Hi

well I got 2 softs that say the same, asus probe and mbm5 so I dont know if they both could have it reversed, or could they ?

Thanks

guys someone said that the asus probe and mbm5 running together might screw each other up so I turned probe off, now at 3ghz OC it shows 40 mobo and 42 cpu under load
looks more normal now, but at 3ghz aint that kinda cool ? stock HSF

let me know what you guys think

Thanks
Dan
