mobo switch?

I have a g/way 500 with a p3 500 cpu and a tabor (stock) mobo.
I want to buy an asus cusL2 mobo and use this cpu with it until prices are better but mostly until I get better. I don't care if I fry the p3500. I plan on building a great system one step at a time.
