Mobo Switch. Chances of OS still working?

In a few days I'll be swapping my Intel D975X mobo for a Gigabyte G33. I'm wondering on what the chances of my OS (Vista Ultimate) still working after the switch.

I've only tried this once before and it didn't work. However, I've heard if people having success with it. When I tried it before I went from and Intel D915 chipset to an nVidia 680i. Due to the fact that I was switching between two totally different chipsets I didn't think it would work anyway. But this time, since I'm going from one Intel chipset to another I'm hoping it'll work. FWIW, when I tried the D915 to 680i switch I was using XP Pro and now I'm using Vista Ultimate so I don't know if that'll help or hurt things.

So what do you think? I'm just curious.

Thanks.
