I'm waiting for the desktop version (not MP) of the Athlon4 to hit the streets (September?) B4 upgrading...also waiting for an AT review of the Abit KG7! :) Is there anything special, mobo-wise, needed for a desktop Athlon 4? I know it's Socket A, but that's about all I know about it. Is voltage still 1.75? Thanks much.

I belive its a 266 fsb chip. So you'd need at least a KT133A board. However, I'd go DDR with an Athlon4.

From the initial reviews of the Athlon4 MP, it looks like the sweet spot for the Athlon4 is a DDR equipped system.

Thanks. By the time I have the money for a complete upgrade, the Athlon4 should be out and "consumer tested". Cool.

I saw a review of the Asus A7V266 and it had a jumper for Palimino :Q

I don't know what that jumper does exactly...I hope it's something that can be added to current boards via BIOS or I'm gonna be pissed!

Hi Noriaki,

I just read AT's Pally Article (which I should've read B4 I posted this thread..duh on me ) and it says the Pally (aka Athlon4) runs at 1.4 volts instead of 1.75, like the TBird. Maybe the Asus jumper is for the voltage?
