mobo suggestions...

The rig:
Epox 8K7A
AMD 1600XP
512 PC2100 (one stick)
Maxtor ATA133/7200 40GB
GF4 Ti 4400
Lite-On 24-16-40 CDRW
sound card, NIC, IEEE1394

My Epox just crapped out on me, and it's out of warranty. I need to get a new mobo, and I'd like to keep the cost down. I was just going to replace it with a Gigabyte AMD 761 board (it's cheap, $56, and I've had good experience with gigabyte), but that chipset's a little old...

I've been looking at the nForce boards, as well as the VIA chipsets. Are the KT 266A's any good? I got burned by the Apollo a while back; it's hard to forgive VIA for that debacle....once bitten twice shy, I suppose.

The 333 would be nice, especially with my 133 drive, but it's gotta be pretty damn good to justify the $ increase.

Reccomendations, anyone?

i would get a board based on the via kt333 chipset (probably the best of the current chipsets)

the epox 8k3a+ is great... ive been using one for a couple months and i love it 🙂
i especially like that i can run my unlocked athlonxp on a 166mhz fsb and still have the whole system still in spec because of the 1/5th pci dividers
