It's my first time building an intel computer and I was wondering which mobo (socket 775) I should buy. So far I have a C2D E6400, eVGA 7900GS graphics card, Seagate Barracuda 320GB sata hard drive, and a Cooler Master 600W power supply. I tried using an Asus P5B-E and after i installed the latest BIOS it would not post. I did a CMOS reset but it didn't fix anything so I had to RMA it. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good mobo. Also, what kind of memory should i get for it? I tried Corsiar TWIN2X2048-6400C4 but the computer kept restarting randomly.

I've been considering the following in that price range...

ASUS P5N-E 650i SLI
Gigabyte S3
Gigabyte DS3
ASUS P5B-E

...and thought that the P5B-E was the most stable choice. Were you able to get it to post at all? Did you try diff. RAM and/or RAM on the QVL for that board? Only DDR2800 with cas 5 and 1.8V works with that board (and all P965 based boards).

when i first put everything together it worked fine, at least for an hour. I was about 86% done with reformating the hard drive before it rebooted (probably the memories fault since I found out it's not compatible). Next morning I turned it on and it seemed ok. I reformated the hard drive, installed windows without a problem, installed the drivers, and then used the flash tool that's included on the Asus cd. After that there was no post. I don't have any other ddr2 ram, the only other ram i have is Corsair ValueSelect (2x512) DDR 400 (PC 3200).

I'd also be willing to get an nForce 600 series mobo if it's worth it. At least that way I won't have to return my ram.
