EDITED.. Missed the "intel" qualification. Since I am of the AMD ilk, I don't know enough about the intel products to further comment. Sorry.

If you do go AMD...THEN look at the Epox 8RDA

ps. By the time 8x AGP has any merit, you will have bought several new computers ;)

No Intel board currently (unless it's BRAND new) supports AGP 8X, and for good reason, it sucks. Its a totally useless standard, Just don't worry about the AGP spec, and base your decision on otherthings. A good board for an Intel CPU that has ALL KINDS of features, is the EPoX 4PEA+. I have this board, and I like it a lot.

There are some new SiS 655 boards out for the P4 by MSI and Gigabyte with more coming, that outperform most all P4 solutions. The MSI Max 655-LS is on sale at newegg.com for about $115, uses dual channel DDR, and supports up to PC3200 memory. Comes with USB 2.0, built in LAN and okay sound, as well as support for SATA.

Mine's coming in tomorrow.. woohoo :)

I'd suggest..

MSI 655 Max-LS
2 sticks of 256mb Corsair XMS PC3200, since the mobo uses dual channel memory
P4 2.4 processor w/ 533mhz bus
Any Antec, Lian-Li, Chieftec case out there should be fine.

As the others said, ya can't go wrong with Epox either, and in all reality the speed difference between the SiS655 chipset and the 845PE is just a couple percentage points. I've read that the SiS's are AWESOME overclockers though, if you're looking to do that :)

8x AGP is more of a marketing gimmick than something actually useful right now, I wouldn't worry too much about it. It's about as useful as Gigabit LAN...maybe in a year or so it'll be nice, but right now it's kinda useless.
