Hi,

Motherboard GA-G41MT-S2P (rev. 1.3)
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=3743#sp

Specs says:
Front Side Bus: 1333/1066/800 MHz FSB
Memory: Support for DDR3 1333(O.C.)1066/800 MHz memory modules

Question: if the mobo already supports 1333 FSB why would it needs to overclock to use the RAM at 1333?

I happen to have the DDR3 Ram rated at 1333. If I change the bios setting to run the ram at 1333. Would that overclock the CPU too? I would like NOT to overclock the CPU, stability is more important on this computer.

If it's OK to run the ram at 1333. Is it safe for the hardware and will there be any perceivable benefits?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi Blain,

Thanks for your answer. Can you please help me for the first question? (if the mobo already supports 1333 FSB why would it needs to overclock to use the RAM at 1333?)

There should be a technical reason somewhere, I would like to know why. Thanks.

the OC moniker means that it unofficially supports it. changing your memory speed isnt going to OC the CPU, but isnt going to provide much benefit at all.

blain meant an increase in memory bandwidth is not going to impact performance much at stock speeds. see the bolded in his reply.

i would imagine intel gimped the g41 in some way as it is its lowest end SKU for chipset of that generation, thus the support for 1066 officially.
