Mobo shorted?

recently, i was running my computer when it suddenly shut down. After awhile i could smell smoke. Teh case had been open b/c i had been installing a new stick of ram. im just wondering if this means my mobo shorted, if it unrepairable.

Try to locate the true source of the odor by nose. More likely to be the PSU and not the mobo.
