Getting a new system

AMD64 3000+
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
1024 Corsair PC3200 DDR400 RAM

Have everything planned out except my mobo, currently in a dilemma which to choose. The Abit mobo is single channel while the Asus mobo is dual channel correct? So if i get the Asus it'll run faster probably..

Saw a few benchmarks and the Asus was a small percentage faster over the Abit. Although the Asus is slightly more expensive than the Abit, it seems to have more stuff packed into it, does it.(i read ardOCP forums review on both)

Is it true this Asus K8V mobo has some issues with the BIOS? Read that the slightest overclocking will make it unstable, unlike the ABIT which is more stable.

Anyone using either, or both of these boards, please give me your comments, even if your not using either one of these boards, your opinion would still be great, really appreciate any sort of response to solve my dilemma

Abit no question. Iam planning on very similar system, and I've done the research. Your processor is single channel, so the fact that the Asus board supports it doesnt matter. Also, if you plan on OCing at all the Abit is muuuuch more stable. A guy in forum got his 3000+ /w abit to 2.6 Ghz, (probably not exactly stable but with the stock cooling and 1.6 V thats pretty sweet, and definately not doable on the Asus.

when I say the asus supports it i am reffering to dual channel, and I am assuming you are correct when you say that.

Asus doesn't support dual channel, S754 is not able of that. I'd go with the ASUS, but if you plan on OCing you'd better buy a NForce3 250Gb solution such as ASUS K8N E-Deluxe or DFI lanparty UT 250Gb.

I'm an Asus fan, but that's because I've had good luck with them. I'm sure others will say the same about Abit, as well. You probably won't make a mistake either way.
