So I think it's finally time for me to upgrade from my Sandy.

I picked up a new to me RX580 <~~ from R9 280x
picked up 16gb ddr4 ram (new)
picked up a Ryzen 1600 (new) <~ temporary waiting for the 3xxx chips.

So i'm in need of a motherboard. I don't care about RGB. I just want a solid board. m2 slot etc..

I'm currently looking at the MSI B450 Pro Carbon AC or would an X370 board be a better option? Don't want to spend too much on this upgrade.

Wait for X5xx boards, as they are on the way and will support some new stuff to go with that 3000 series chip

You should have waited until the Ryzen 3000 CPUs and 5xxx chipsets to come out first, unless you brought the older CPU really cheap.

1600 was 99 bucks + tax
My thought process was use the 1600 temporarily and then swap out the cpu later one.

MSI mortar series is good I have a matx mortar titanium and it’s a really nice easy board to work with.

thanks for the input. The mortar series may be a bit out of budget for me for this swap.
I ended up picking up a MSI B450m Gaming Plus for like 57 bucks after rebate ;).

Use these temporarily then swap out to the 3000 series with a possibility of a diff mobo
later when that's released.
