I am ordering hardware for a build for my wife. No gaming, just surfing, email, stained glass creatiion software, and photoshop work.
She wants her application files that are created to be reliably backed up with a minimum of manual intervention. sounds like a good time to get my feet wet with RAID-1.
i will be using two identical WD Caviar 200GB drives for RAID-1 ,separate from her XP system drive.
I only have experience with ASUS MOBO's and was going to select the A8N-SLI, not for the SLI, but for the heat pipe technology. I know it's way overkill for what she needs, but I read too much about southbridge fans going bad......but i have also read tales of ASUS MOBOs being a real pain to get RAID working properly.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for a MOBO that brings up RAID-1 first time with no muss, no fuss?
