Mobo purchase advice needed

Hi

Been planning an upgrade of about 4 monthes now...I had everything finalized and then decided to wait for the GB mobos.

Read some of the reviews and have one question:

I'm not planning to o/c, would a GB with a P4-2.4B and 512MB DDR run faster then a regular PE mobo with the same amount of PC2700 memory? The mobo i was thinking about is the Gigabyte GA-8PE667.

Also how long befor we will see actual boards in the stores?

anyway,you'll need 2 sticks of ddr to achieve higher performance than the i845pe
and granite bay uses only pc2100
i don't know about the date but i expect it to be in mid-december

i845pe boards are already out and about.... Asus P4PE, EPoX 4PEA+, and the Gigabyte you mentioned should all be available NOW.

and they are hella sweet.

Hello. Yes it would be faster. And both of their recommendations are very good, namely a intel 845PE chipset motherboard, if you can't wait for granite bay.
