Mobo/Psu help.

Hello all.
My brother in law purchased a Hp Pavilion a1430n it has on board graphics.
He wants to add a PCI express x 16 card but his psu is only 300W the card choices call for a higher wattage psu with dual rails ranging between 400-450W range.
He tells me that between best buy and Hp support he doesnt know what to think, before he purchased the pc he was told he could add any standard pci-express psu(Antec,Fsp etc and it would be fine, well now Hp chat support says he needs to use a uAtx supply so he called support on the phone and they said he could use any standard pci-express psu.
I told him there was a some great forums i read and i would ask for there input.
Many Thanks

its a asus mobo,

should work, just get another case for better cooling, a cheapo case, and also, get a decent psu, if i may recommend, a ocz 520

I have the same power supply and the same issue. The computer is new so I wanted to get a new power supply from HP to save my warranty. They're telling me I need a micro-atx power supply. But then they suggested an atx upgrade. I don't know a lot about power supplys so maybe they're right. But I can't use any decent video card until i get this resolved. Anythoughts? Anyway can point me in the direction of an upgrade that will give me 350-400W+ and 12v w/ 22a or more?

Thanks!
Chris
