Mobo problem

I've got the combo over Fry: Amd athlon64 3000+ 754 retail cpu plus ecs nforce3 motherboard.
However, it seems that the mobo has a problem. On shutdown it reporst the XP stop error:
STOP: 0x0000008E

After some research I figured out that the CD-RW (SONY CR-RW CRX 140E) was causing the problem. I replaced it with LG CED-8080B, but without sucess. Now both CRRW are relatively old (2001 and 2000) and without their original drivers (which are imposssible to find enywhere) but were regularly working with my previous mobo.

I don't know what to do. Is that the prloblem with the motherboard, or should I look for new CD? Does anybody has good suggestion?

thanks

I'm not sure its the same problem but one of my PCs always shows a STOP error on shutdown. This could be due to an IRQ conflict, although I'm myself unsure how to correct that. That could be one direction of thought. I'm positive mine isn't a hardware issue btw.
