Mobo or CPU?

I'm running an ASUS A7N8X-Deluxe mobo. Had a freezing problem the other night and upon rebooting, I get a system failed memory test error message. The system will not boot up at all. I just reinstalled new memory, and tested the old stuff in another puter and it worked fine. Any ideas what to replace? I can't even get it to boot up a floppy or into the bios. Thanx in advance.

followed instructions in manual- unplug, remove battery, change jumper from 1-2 to 2-3, then put back on 1-2, replace battery, repower and hold delete to enter bios setup.. no good, still got the system failed memory test voice message 🙁

🙁

If I understand you correctly, the memory that's failing is not the same as the memory you were using when it worked. Did you try using your old memory?

Some boards are picky about which memory slots you use if you're not using all of them. Check you manual.

Also, try it with just one memory stick. If that works, try the other in the same slot.

Are the memory sticks the same speed, make and model?

tried both old and new. used them in different slots also. tried using them as single sticks also. old sticks were crucial pc2100 ddr (512mb). new ones are corsair pc3200 (1gb). the old ones also checked out ok in a friends puter. the bios did hve the most recent update on it also. I appreciate the help!

nope. got it in Nov. 2001. i run my system 24/7, so i guess i got my money out of it 😉 Need to find a good replacement next. Thanx again for your help.
