Now that cpu's have multiplyers on the chip so you don't need to flip the dips or fidget with jumpers, is there a max speed on these new mobos? IE. If I had a fast enough P4 cpu that would overclock to 4+ghz, would the mobo be able to take the speed?

I know that old mobos were limited cause of multiplyers on the board or they weren't rated to go that high so you had to buy a new board even for the same generation(as long as the cpu pins config is the same) if you wanted to upgrade to a faster cpu.

most new mother boards list their fsb adjustments and v core voltage in their specs along with multiplier settings and ram settings

take the asus p4t-e here
it tells most of the settings and if you download the pdf manuals you can read the specs and see the settings but since you have to install chinese of windows disk i didnt get it but its on the left side of the page i linked to

also there are tricks like the pin trick that allow more voltage adjustment to the cpu

hope this helps
