Mobo/Hd/Fan/CPU/CD Suggestions?

I'm about to put together a new system and i need some advice. Which would you suggest for the following?

Motherboard = Abit KT7 (or a good alternative? Asus?)
Hard Drive = ? (which is the best @ 7200 rpm?)
Cooler/Fan = ? (which is best/quietest)
CD Rom = (which is the quietest?)
RAM = (will generic 256 megs be ok?)
Power Supply = (quietest?)

Thanks for any input you can give.

Hard Drive = IBM IBM IBM
Fan = I use a global win, but there is better out there
CD rom = Toshiba
Ram = NOT GENERIC, micron, crucial good and cheap, mushkin better and expensive
Power supply = Antec

For the 100MHz FSB processors, the MSI K7T Pro2 is the best choice. The Pro2A has too many problems.

I'd suggest the IBM 75GXP at whatever capacity you need.

For great performance at relatively low noise, check out the Thermosonic Thermoengine at Azzo.

Any 48X CD-ROM will do you fine. Just a little caution - the Creative 52X sounds like a jet on take-off.

Generic memory is good enough.

Hard Drive = Maxtor u100 (whatever capacity you need)
Cooler/Fan = Alpha PAL6035 with the YSTech fan (good and quiet)
CD Rom = Afreey 50x (good DAE extraction)
RAM = 256 Kingston ValueRam PC133 (yup, generic is fine also)
Power Supply = Enermax 300-watt (kinda pricey though)

Motherboard = Asus A7V133 or MSi K7T Turbo. Don't get the KT7 or the MSi K7T Pro2(a) neither of those support 133Mhz FSB CPUs, the A7V133 and Turbo support 100 or 133Mhz FSB.

Hard Drive = Maxtor Diamond Max +60 or IBM 75GXP in whatever size you like

Cooler/Fan = An Alpha PAL6035 rev 2 with an Adda 16dbA fan.

CD Rom = No Asus or Creative...the Asus works great but it's bloody loud, Creatives are even bloody louder and don't work well at all.

RAM = Genereic should be fine but Crucial (Micron) is one of the best brands and is so damn cheap buying generic is kind of pointless.
Power Supply = Just got my Enermax Whisper Series 430watt today and it is very very quiet. Enermax is an excellent name to. If you want the quietest get one from QuietPC.com but be warned, it's not going to be cheap.

Is the Asus really bloody loud? I was going to buy one because of the recommendations of audio enthusiasts who claim it's a quiet drive (the CD-S500 model).

Instead of getting a cd rom why don't you get a cd-rw or dvd. For cd-rw go with plextor they are the best, and dvd can't say, I have a pioneer but its pretty loud since its slot, the tray version I think is quieter though. For your mobo I have to put in another vote for the a7v133. Hard drive, another vote for ibm 75gxp. Ram, get crucial 256 cas 2. Power supply, go with enermax whisper series.
