Hey guys, I want to build a system, and I have:

ASUS A7N8X Deluxe nf2 (the 400 fsb version with nvidia dolby)
GEIL PC3200 400mhz RAM
AMD XP2200+

My question is, the XP processors seem to be mostly 266 fsb, as in 333 fsb is a lot more expensive. Do I need a 333 fsb processor to take advantage of the mobo/ram? And also, does 400mhz memory mean it takes a 400 fsb motherboard to take full advantage of?

Thanks for any input.

Your 2200+ has a FSB of 266MHz while your ram can run at 400MHz MAX. From what I understand, having your ram running faster than the FSB will give you minimal performance gain (around 2%) or even sometimes slow it down. You can however run your ram at 266MHZ to match your FSB. I am not completely sure of this, someone correct me if Im wrong.

That mobo should have no problem with 133 MHz FSB and yes you can underclock your RAM,
so you should be able to use all that stuff together without a problem.

I've heard underclocking it will increase performance since you can have a 1:1 ratio.

Yeah bro. Underclocked memory is better performing. Just make sure your CPU and memory run in sync (ie same speeds) otherwise, the system will become SLOWER (due to asynchronousity). Also, nForce 2.0 (that has support odf 400FSB) needs a newly realeased Barton 3200+ AND 3200 RAM (both are 400mhz).
Dont worry! Excellent choice of components!
