MOBO FOR ATHLONXP + PC2700

gonna get:
- athlonxp 2000+
- 256mb unbuffered PC2700 DDR (2x)
- ultra 160 scsi
- usb 2.0 would be nice

NO ONBOARD SOUND PLZZZ!!!

BUT im not sure if i need the scsi onboard or usb 2.0 so any recomendations on a very good and stable (and not too expensive) board?

when you say PC2700 board, I assume you mean a board that runs 133MHz/166MHz asynchronously.. i.e. DDR333 without overclocking. before you make your decision, you should take into account:
1) the only chipsets that will do this are KT333 and SiS 745, and these haven't really come out yet
2) running DDR333 is basically the same thing as DDR266.. there's only about a 5% speed bonus
3) you can run 166MHz/166MHz fronside bus but you either have to unlock your processor or overclock it 25% (you'll need a real good cooler for this)

that being said, I suggest you get the Abit KR7A and add in sound, SCSI, etc. separately. not many boards have USB 2.0, you might want to get that on a PCI card.
if you want you can go with a KT333 board just to say you're running DDR333, just know that it won't help you much.
 
hmmm now im confused...

i DO like the asynchronius timing and i dont really wana overclock thaaat much so its a nice bet... about the usb2.0 yeah tahts a good point.

the only reason why i wanted this board is cuz of the pc2700 support.

The Iwill XP333 is designed for DDR333. It will handle 166FSB and higher. You can set the AGP/PCI dividers to 1/5 at 166MHz FSB, and 1/6 at 200MHz FSB, and the rest of your system will remain completely in spec. The only thing that is overclocked is the processor and memory. If you look at my sig you will notice that at 156 FSB, my PCI bus is actually underclocked by 2.1MHz. That will change when I get my PC2700 and run my FSB at 166. The onboard 6.1 surround sound is very good also. If you don't like it, just disable it.

You may need to unlock your XP2000+ to fully utilize the 166MHz FSB. You have the option of running the memory and CPU asynchronously, but if you're gonna OC you'd might as well do it right.

From what I've read, the K7S6A is a pretty good board, but not nearly as versatile as the XP333.
