Mobo for AMD+ 7750 Kuma

Greetings,

Who has first-hand knowledge of a solid Mobo to pair with the 7750 Kuma? I have only built Intel 'puters up til now so this will be my first AMD machine. By solid I mean durable and a decently easy layout. Maybe a couple of different ranges - budget ( $50 to $75 ) and mid-range ( $75 to $100 ).

I will not be overclocking, and don't need firewire now though that would be a bonus. Looking at DDR2 800 ram since its so cheap, good onboard video, gigabit lan.

Any suggestions would be appreciated for the mobo and anything other things to keep in mind since this is my first AMD machine.

Cheers

I have just built a comp with a ASUS M3A78-EM and i love it, rock stable, even runs my ram stable at 1066 with only 1.85V. Corsair has a spec of 2.1v for 1066. It's a clean board, decent heatsink on the northbridge, looks like all high quality components and all solid caps. Rest of system specs are in sig. Works well in linux and Vista 64 no driver issues at all. Although the onboard video is great compared to any other onboard i have ever used i would add a card if i was going to game with this computer.

That said I am building a gaming computer soon, with the same CPU you said you are going to use. I am going with a AMD 790 based board with the new 750 southbridge as i hear it is alot better for overclocking, People have suggested the Biostar board to me and i read nothing but good things about it. I will be going for a max OC on Air for this computer and intend to get as far over 3Ghz as possible without raising voltage too much. Hope that helped.

Thanks for your input. I've had a couple of ASUS' boards in the past and they've been good to me. ASRock is a subdivision of ASUS, correct? Are they just as good?

Hey jonhsonbrewer, it's the guy you helped land the 7750 deal! I ended up going with the ASRock board after doing a lot of research. Seeing how many 5's it's gotten on Newegg with a complete lack of 1's helped me pull the trigger. I also wanted the 780G over the 780V as I may use it without a video card in my HTPC and it will do the HD decoding.

I was wondering what board you paired that 7750 up with. Let me know if you went with DDR2 800 instead of 1066, as that's how I'm leaning. Also share your BIOS settings for CPU, ie multiplier etc. Looks like we can just increase the multiplier to hit 3.0 GHz, right? This board has everything I'm looking for so its on my very short list, and I like the price too. Anything else you've learned with this board / cpu combo would be much appreciated!
