mobo/cpu combo for under 100 bucks?

I have everything else but the mobo/cpu..


I was thinking maybe a decent duron (800 to 900mhz) and ECS K7S5A SiS® 735 SOCKET A MOTHERBOARD

any other ideas?

i like that combo, but i probably go with T-bird 900 from newegg with the ECS k7S5A

62 + ~50 = 112 (just eeked over a 100 bucks) plus shipping

ABIT VL6 + Celeron II should clock in under a hundred. This was what I had in the first rig I built and it worked well for me. Overclocked a Cel 600 to 800 very stably with this setup. Doesn't allow you to OC in 1mhz steps tho.

only problem with that ECS + athlon combo might be the power supply, its kind of picky with that. but if u have good p/s i would go for that combo.

I have a psu that was ran pretty solid with my previous cpu and board.

yeah... a word of advise...

stay away from k7s5a's unless you have a psu that is well proven.
not just certified... but well proved via history.

usually after the cost of a new psu... it doesn't come out to be such a bargain.

better look elsewhere for the cost.

i had to get a new psu ($40) to go with my k7s5a...
but looking back... i could've spent that 40 for kt266a mobo.
