Mobo compatability difference between different IDE ATA speeds?

I'm gonna order a friend a new HD. I'd like to know what IDE his mobo would support, or if it matters (fairly recent PC, 1.5 years old tops).

Dell uses proprietary mobo made for them by Intel.
Hard to track down.
I'm sure it supports ATA 100
As has been said here many times - you will never see the dif between ATA133 and ATA100 in benches or real use.
If you really want ATA133 you get a Maxtor and a Promise add in card.

Also the ATA133 is the MAX bus speed the drive can support, it will have no problem going on a slower ATA bus.

The biggest reason you need ATA133 is so you can make sure that you have the 48-bit LBA the controller needs to properly see the whole capacity of today's large hard drives that routinely exceed 137GB.

Any ATA drive on the market today, plus it has SATA support as well.
