mobo coils squealing/screeching?

now that i've quieted my pc, i can hear it 'squeal/scratch/screech' intermittently when 3d games are playing. anyone else get this?

is this the mob coil?

My game PC has a high pitched noise as well but I have no idea where it's coming from. I guess I should unplug all the fans and see if I an hear it.

My old Compaq Presario 2100 did that. When ever the CPU was in use, I could hear an odd electronic squeal as you describe. NEver investigated it. One thing for sure though, It wasn't the fan.

2nd mobo, 2nd video card and i still get this nasty squealing intermittently in 3d activity. driving me nuts.

You know, I've been getting it too. I have a Abit AN8 Ultra and I know it's not any of the fans. It's not the optical drive because I can remove the disc while playing. For me, it only happens so far with COD2 singleplayer (it doesn't do it in multiplayer). I can remove the DVD midgame and temporarily stop the fans in my computer and I still hear the lil squeal. I have no idea what it is and the fact that it only occured in that one game in that one mode of play made think I was losing it.

is it me or does it sound like your computer speaker that's squealing? I'm not talking about the external speaker but more like the one that is build onto your case.
