mobo asus gene 2 rampage m/atx

hi everyone im new here and would like to get some help with my mobo
[asus gene 2 rampage]
the problem im having is that after mobo posts it says " drive not found"
i then go into bios and it shows that drive has indeed been found
i then save and exit;after comp.restarts it says "drive not found' again
it does this all the time [ my drive is a wd caviar black sata 750 gb]
my os is win 64 vista i also updated to the newest bios [809]

Was Windows Vista installed onto that hard drive using another motherboard?

Which SATA ports are you using? IIRC you need to use the ports at the edge of the board.

hi zap vista 64 was installed on that drive using asus p5b del mobo over 6 months ago
without any problems[i have drive connected to sata 1 port

I think another question to ask is: How were the SATA ports configured on your old board (IDE, ACHI) and how are they currently configured on your new board?

hi beanie46 the sata ports were configured as ide on old and new board

Since Windows was installed on another motherboard and potentially in another mode, you may have to reinstall.
