Anyway, you're going to want an Athlon XP CPU for that system. However, the newer models would probably require a BIOS update to work correctly with that board. I'd go for an XP 2100+ or something like that, that would probably be supported.

I think he said he wanted a new motherboard and processor.

The first choice you need to make is AMD or Intel. Personally, I think you get the most bang for your buck by going with an AMD system.

Do you have any Fry's retail stores in your area? The reason I ask is that they seem to constantly be advertising AMD and motherboard combos for incredibly low prices.
