Hey!

I was thinking to buy a new laptop.

Acer 4601Wlmi with x600 (64mb)
Acer 1691Wlmi with x700 (64mb)

One difference is OS. 4601 has XP Pro and 1691 has Home. Is there any reason why I should buy 1691 instead of 4601? Are there any significant differences between these two g-card? G-card's has 64mb memory.

4601WLmi
Intel Pentium M 730 (1.6GHz/2Mt), Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional Edition (Fin,Swe,UK), 512 Mt (2x256)), 60 Gt, 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon X600, 4-in-1 mem.card-reader, 15.4"WXGA+ , DVD-RW (+/-), Giga lan&802.11g

1691WLmi
Intel Pentium M 730 (1.6GHz/2Mt), Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition (Fin/Swe/UK), 15.4"WXGA Acer CrystalBrite, 512 Mt (2x256Mt), 64MB ATI Mobility Radeon X700/80 Gt, 4in1 mem.card-reader, DVD-RW dual layer (+/-), Giga lan &802.11g wlan

Or any other reason why should I choose 4601 instead of 1691? Or other way ;)

The x700 is something like 2x as fast, so I'd get that one instead. The x600 is about as fast as a mobility 9600, while the x700 is in the same league as a desktop 9700 Pro (sometimes faster).

One thing to keep in mind is that the resolution is just WXGA+ (1440x900) and WXGA (1280x768 I think), both of which are fairly low resolution.

If you plan on doing any gaming, the x700 is a good bit better than the x600, if not then it really won't matter much, and the x600 might give you slightly better battery life. Looks like the 1691 also has a bigger hard drive, assuming the 80 Gt actualy is reffering to an 80Gb hard drive(since you refered to your memory as 512 Mt(instead of Mb(mega bytes))..

so it really depends on what you are going to use it for..
