Mobility Radeon 7500

Is there anyone besides Dell that sells a laptop with this? I don't care to have MSN or AOL and a bunch of other crap shoved down my throat.

Noone's forcing you to use ANY of the Pre-Installed software. Some of it can be uninstalled right off the hop. What can't be uninstalled (if it's REALLY bothering you) can be removed with a fresh install of your OS of choice. 😉
(speaking from experience.)

LOL Thats funny!!

Dell didn't have to twist my arm to use the FREE year of dial up MSN access, when I bought my Inspiron 4000 last January.

a quick call last week, canceled the account , with no problems at all..

So, no.. you are not FORCED to use any of the software installed..

Like a previous post stated.. format it, and put what you want on it! Piece of cake

It still has to be factored into the price, though. It looks as if I pretend to be a large business I can get it without an ISP.

Dell notebook are probably the cheapest among the better ones out there. If you think you can get a 1.2GHz P3-M, 1600x1200 LCD, Radeon 7500 graphics and a 30GB+ HDD not to mention 8xDVD/CDRW combo at under $2000 from Compaq, IBM or Toshiba then you are kidding yourself. Some even don't offer the UXGA screen and all don't offer the Radeon 7500 yet either.

Let me explain so you can stop freaking out. 😉
All they do with AOL is give you a disc with a slip of paper for a free 6-month activation code.
Don't want AOL? Don't load the disc! Simple!
In other words: It's not preloaded anyways! What's the big deal????

It's not factored into the price...it is FREE. Thats why it's FREE software. AOL doesnt sell their software, they make their money on the people who actually sign up and use it. Ever notice the billions of AOL cd's floating around? Have you ever been charged for one? If you have...you don't deserve to be here...lol

j/k

MSN is the same way...free software they just install or give you the cd. I've got a Dell Inspiron 8100...AWESOME laptop. You really cant go wrong...and the price is better than most out there.

I have heard a lot of people on these forums talk good about Dell's Inspiron series. I have no personal experiences to give you however.

I simply oppose AOL or MSN being distributed. Period. It's a matter of principle.

So if AOL or MSN is so much as in the cardboard box when you buy a computer, the whole computer is "tainted" or "evil"???
Did AOL men snatch you away as a baby or something? 😛

You're not going to find many computers in the "Home" market that don't have either of those programs. You can spend an extra $1000 to get a "Business" model, but even that's no guarantee. I know several businesses that stay connected with MSN. And why not? No, it's not the best, but you can't beat "good" for "free".

As a hobby, I take AOL CDs from grocery stores and burn them. That should tell you something.

i take aol cd's from circuit city and use their pretty dvd cases for presentation discs. oooh, i just loved it when they mailed them out in the tin cases. a little lighter fluid, and the the glue from the sticker came right off. i love aol for sending me all the free cd cases, though i hate them for buying redhat.

Actually, I like them for buying Red Hat. It'll be the first real competition for MSFT in the business market since OS/2 (which they won on thanks to back-stabbing).

Can you actually TELL us why you hate AOL with such a passion? This kind of behaviour is unhealthy and you should speak to a therapist.... it's really beginning to affect your life in a negative way.
(Actually refusing to buy an awesome computer because AOL *might* be on a CD in its box???) Good grief...

Hate to tell ya bud, but almost all laptops come with some free distribution of something.
Your going to find an AOL cd in all of them.
Dell just happens to advertise it.

This is freakin retarded. Kill this post. Anyone who hates AOL That much is wack in the head. It's just a CD. Get a life and move on. No one forces you to use the service. They are just a business promoting their product. If you can't buy a Laptop based on performance, build quality, price and things like that.....then you dont deserve one. Not buying one because it comes with an AOL disk is just pathetic.

None do, in fact.

You're stuck with the Dell if you want a 7500.

AOL has tried to rob me before. Anyhow, HP is coming out with 7500 laptops, and it won't be long until NV17M either!

And HP Doesn't come with AOL? I'm afraid you'll be disappointed again. Every HP machine I sold in the past shipped with an AOL disc.
Now get over it. Burn another disc. Don't dismiss the computer because of what software is thrown in for free. :|
