Hello!

I have a 600m with the 14.1" SXGA+ screen and the 64 meg mobility 9000, and I was wondering two things:

1) Can install regular catalyst drivers?

2) Has anyone else had trouble with this combination producing fuzzy graphics? The tabs in dremweaver are imossible to read - and it isn't the monitor. I tried hooking it up to a normal monitor and had the same problem.

Thanks for any help!

You can install the "Omega" modified drivers from www.omegacorner.com. In theory, there's nothing special about the Mobility RADEON chips, but YMMV; sometimes they don't work 100% on particular laptop models.

Haven't noticed any blurriness on my gf's 600m. Maybe an issue with Dreamweaver?

Thanks, I'll try that tomorrow. The thing is that very few graphics actually look sharp, and I am running it at 1400*1050, its native res, and my dreamweaver issue is just a case in point. I'll post what I find, maybe it will help someone in the future...

Well, the drivers would fix the problem for one reboot, and then the problem was back. Here is what was happening: The actual desktop and background was running at 1400*1050, but the taskbar was running at 1024*768 resolution, as was windows that I would open, like explorer. The anandtech homepage barely fit on the screen, which is ridiculous! So, I reformatted! Now everything is hunk-dory, and the omega drivers were worth an extra 600 points in 3dMark!

Thanks for your help, and if anyone else has this problem with their 600m and manage to really diagnose it, that would be awesome!

I was going to suggest checking to see if ClearType was enabled instead of Standard mode for rendering fonts on the screen...

Do you know if this was your issue?

Display Properties > Appearance tab > Effects button > second option from the top.

Definitely was not clear type. Turning it off and on did nothing - I went through all of the windows display properties trying to figure out why it was doing things at different resolutions.
