Is this system good enough for EverQuest and Q3????

The Rage mobility chip will struggle with Quake 3. You might be able to turn down the detail settings to get some sort of playable level of performance.

I have no idea about EverQuest.
 
The only notebook now that can currently handle hi-res FPS's is the Dell Inspiron 8000, due to it's 32MB graphics - I would try to get this guy if possible... that Compaq would really struggle unless you've turned the detail right down
