Like the sheep I am, I went for it & purchased a couple chips from newegg(24 & a 26). I have enough hardware to get these things up & running, but alot of it is dated, & I would really like to see what these chips can do.
What hardware(mobo, ram, hsf, etc.)are you guys using in your current mobile xp rigs? What would give some really nice results on a budget scale? What would get you rig flying, if money is less of a concern? What would do nicely with balanced spending?
The chips aren't here yet, but these future rigs will most likely be used for gaming/movies/crunching/normal stuff, with a side order of encoding/ripping(till the p4 setup is ready). Basically, a main system. Would like to have a nice sata raid thing going. Memory timings don't have to be too tight, if it's really going to bloat the budget. Dual channel would be nice, but not totally necessary. Ease of use is always a plus.
And if you have any time left to help, add your choice for the optimum case(s) to keep all of this nice & cool.
