Today I received from Newegg my Mobile XP 2600 with the following stepping : IQYHA 0348 SPMW

From reading thru the many posts here, it appears I got a decent stepping for tweaking/OC'g.

I have an Abit NFS7 2.0 MB and 512 of Mushkin greeen 3200 ram.

Simple question to start out with :

What should I set the default settings at to run this processor ?

There's enough information on this forum to obtain OC setting- just not sure what to initially set the chip at. Or will my BIOS auto detect it?

Thanks,

set everything to auto
place in new cpu
once it has booted then set multiplier manually to desired overclock ,
also set your voltage , i have had to mobiles bootup at max voltage on this msi board for some reason, i reset it to lower voltage
what my 35 watt processors have taken is 1.68 volts at 2300mhz , it will vary from processor to processor
depending how good your processor is and your cooling will determine your overclock ability

Your bios probably will default the multiplier really low, and the fsb at 100. Which isn't correct. You then will need to manually setup the bios so that the fsb is 133mhz and then set the multiplier to 14 or 15 I think. Default voltage is 1.65v I believe. From there you should be able to go straight to 200mhz fsb and work with the multiplier after that. 200mhz x 10 = 2ghz, 200 x 11 = 2.2ghz, etc. You will probably have to manually set the voltage as well, especially when going for over 2ghz. Just keep playing with it to check stability and such until you get it all tweaked.

The default voltage for 2600+ mobile is 1.45v. As for multiplier, it's 15.
