Hi all, wasn't sure where this would fit in the forums, I know this area is well traveled 🙂

So, I manage the website for a private University in the Chicagoland area. In the last year, we had our main site rebuilt (previous developer took us for a ride, before my time :-/) and our next target is a mobile site. Our biggest constraint is a lack of a budget for really anything. I'm trying to come up with a plan that we can afford and that works well.

NOTE: I am not a developer. I can mess, I can learn. Currently, the CMS we use is called Ektron (overpriced, IMO) and will someday move to open source someday (WordPress multi-site or maybe Drupal)

Our first look was to develop it through Ektron, our CMS. But my developer tells me it'll cost upwards of $20,000 and that doesn't work for us.

Because of this, I don't think we are going to try and make the entire website completely mobile and instead are going to select specific pieces of content and information and create a very focused mobile site.

So I'm either going to custom make a site using a combination of HTML with JavaScript without a CMS or use WordPress as a CMS and leverage a mobile site theme, such as WPTouch Pro).

Any advice from those that have developed mobile sites? Any stellar resources out there, like a forum or the like?

Thanks in advance! Always love tapping the talent and experience on these forums!
