Mobile video... Between ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT vs ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650

The ATI Mobility 2600 XT is at 256mb, the 3650 XT is at 512.

I'm trying to debate which one to get (it's between two laptops, the Ideapad Y710 or the Y730).

Thanks for any help, looking at the NotebookCheck reviews I am getting confused because the 2600XT seems a better performer? I'm really wondering on this one.

Thanks!

If you need some gaming performance, and the price isn't a factor, the 3650 should be a small step up. They both have the same 120 "Stream Processors," and similar clock rates, but the extra RAM (which may or may not also be faster) will future-proof it a bit.

The price justifies itself because I get a few upgrades to processor and RAM that justify the extra cost. I'd get the graphics adaptor for free essentially, I just didn't want to step into a lower class video card to upgrade to the higher RAM/Proc.

Thanks for the heads-up. Can you tell me why the two ratings on NotebookCheck don't fare well against each other?

Seems like the 2600XT gets ahead, but I'd like to make sure.

Thanks!

well "3650 xt" doesn't exist, its either 3650 or 3670; the 3650 is slower than the 2600xt as its meant as a refresh for the 2600pro, the 3670 is the refresh for the 2600xt

Yea, it's the 3650... so should I go with the 2600XT card, or stick with the 3650?

Let me know :)

not like either one of those two option will tear it up in performance.

performance wise the 2600xt is faster but the 3650 being build on 55nm eats less power(also aided by the fact that its a bit slower) so if you don't care about battery life, only performance then go for the 2600xt

Given the fact that I'll save $200 from one laptop to another, and the cheaper option offers the faster graphics card -- I'm going with the 2600XT card. It just makes more sense for me at this point, given that I rarely 'travel' with my laptop, and I always have power available to me.
