I'm looking at the dell notebooks and they have it vs the g2go 32mb... should I get it ? It's Radeon 64mb.. i think the review were in favor of ati for notebooks chips... someone confirm this for me?

It's well worth the upgrade to the Mobility Radeon 7500 if you plan to use your laptop for any kind of gaming. It's _much_ faster than the G2Go, and at this point has better drivers. I have one in my new Inspiron 8100 and it rocks

The Geforce 4mx mobile should be coming out soon. Toshiba already has their model on display from their online store. I would wait for that before making a decision.

People have been experiencing a lot of problems with the Geforce2go video card and WinXp in their inspiron 8100 notebooks (check the delltalk forums). I would opt for the ATI for the gaming features and stability. Of course YMMV. I'm still deciding if I should pick up the 8100 w/ATI Radeon 7500 or wait until it makes its way to a smaller notebook.

The new nvidia gpu (nv17m) has found it's way to toshiba's lineup, but its the 64bit 32M version. It's also almost $3k.

Hey forcesho - any luck on finding cheap ide->scsi adapters? Cheapest I found was $70, but it was unclear if it supported cdrws nicely.

I am not necessarily saying its better. I am just saying wait before making a decision. Its after all a laptop purchase, not a desktop purchase. I have a Dell Inspiron 8000 and no problems for me. I am going to wait until IBM comes with an NVIDIA chip before upgrading my laptop. By the time that happens, it should be time to upgrade my laptop. I love my Dell notebook but it is just to darn heavy.

I have the old 8000 with g2go, had no problem except the sleep mode..

nope, still haven't found decent ide / scsi adapters.. think cheapest was what we found last time.. too

i'm gonna hold off on that...

it's too bad, i gotta buy one today to get it here next week before my trip.. else i wait for g4 mx maybe..
