they all default to 12x mult.

i just got a p4 1.6 M for $76 + 7 shipping for my laptop (i dont o/c duh), but figured i'vebeen seeing fs/ft posts for mobile 1.7s in the $170 range.

1.7's and 1.8's run close to $100, and then it gets out of control at the 2.0 and 2.2 ghz range (in the $180-280 range).

but low speed chips are cheap. i saw a 1.4 go for $53. (same seller as the 1.6 i was getting).

so if you want to save some money instead of plunking down $200+ for a 1.7 from a store, go to ebay and buy people's old chips that they'd upgraded their laptops from.

search for BOTH "mobile p4" or "mobile pentium 4 " and you should get all auctions . there usually arent THAT many, just be patient.

i also didnt post this until after i got mine haha

Too bad those are all old oem pulls on Ebay. The guy is taking pics of them on carpet. That is what I want in my machine. If retails were that cheap, that would be a different story. I would hate to see anyone wanting to put a p4m in their desktop get one of these ebay chips. And yes, I do have one for sale in the FSFT forum. I payed 200+ for mine shipped. Do a search for completed items on ebay. These "carpet" chips are that cheap, not retails.

i see like 4 people pointing out it was on carpet, and not retail. hell, you guys are all over clocking them anyways voiding your warranty, 3 year warranty is not a liceense to overclock like mad in a platform its not supposed to be in.

anyways, i was just pointing it out for people who didnt know you could get them in this way, not in a retail box, for half the cost. some people out there are fine with it as long as it works, and the carpet chip as long as the seller guarantees no doa, why not.

So does that mean that overclocking my cpu increases my post count?
