QueBert, if you really like the drag/drop stuff, you should check out RoundCube.

tegeril - I installed Roundcube on my web hosting I like it a lot :) Apex, it's down for me I just got home and tried it, so I'll assume the stable part is a no :(

I know in a day or 2 it will be smooth though, I can't wait to play with it some more.

I was on it and it went down again, 1:13AM Friday, damn it was flying up until it actually went down again.

this seems to be a very shaky launch, I don't know if they weren't ready but wanted to get it online on launch day regardless, or maybe just too many people trying to access it and they weren't ready for the number. I remember when Steam launched it was down a lot for the first week.

found something I don't like, a small'ish issue but still something. when I looked at my synced contacts from outlook none of them had the pictures, a lot of my contacts in Outlook have a pix of the person so I knows who it is. Besides that the Sync is niiiice. I had given up on getting Google Calendar to sync, this one seems flawless.

I've been using it since about 4:30 this morning (EST)...I was able to sync calendars & contact and have it pushed onto my iPhone OG with unofficial 2.0 software. However, I am NOT able to get any push email/contact/calendar changes....maybe that 2.0 firmware wasn't the final?

Still having problems with the Push, its just spotty at best right now between the "cloud" and the iPhone, and completely not working for the desktop apps (the best it can do right now is auto sync every 15 minutes).

Grrr, Seriously Apple. This sucks.

ok now I'm pissed. There is a support article on apples site saying that 15 minute desktop sync is as designed. Bullshit.

Ok.. I'm curious about this. So when you setup your MobileMe sync on your desktop (set to automatic), and then you change something.. it takes 15 mins before it syncs back with the server?

yes. In my experience (a whopping 2 days so far) it works like this:

iPhone -> Me.com webapp = push
Me.com webapp -> iPhone & iCal (Mac) = push
iCal -> MobileMe = 15 minute sync.

Which means if you modify something on your computer and don't hit "sync now" in iSync then it'll will probably take 15 minutes to sync to the cloud, then get pushed out to the iPhone.

In all honestly, the MM "push" is pretty crappy, even for e-mail to me.com. I'm glad I have a 60 day trial, give them some time to get this all sorted out. It seems like a great idea in theory but thus far the implantation is terrible.

Yea.. I notice the same thing as well. I thought it was just that I wasn't changing settings, but when I did change something it didn't sync right away. Very crappy. I hope that they work that out.

That was actually an issue when you tried to sync two different Macs with one .Mac account. So hopefully they adjust the length, or give you the option to.

Is the mobileme mail webapp not working properly for anybody else? right now I'm just using MM push email to forward my gmail to my phone, however whenever I delete the email from my phone it still shows up in my MM webapp inbox (I haven't set up mail.app yet). This looks more like Push POP vs. Push IMAP. Anybody else have this issue?

Been using it for a few days now and have formed a better opinion.

I don't like how you compose a new email, I'm use to Gmail being able to pull up email addresses for people I've emailed before, so I only have to type a few letters to get the address. Unless I'm dumb I'm having to click on the address book and finding the address to email. I can't even click on the TO field like in Yahoo Mail and get a list. I hope they add the email address auto complete like in Gmail, I love that feature. Or possibly make it quicker to insert an email address.

I like the spell checking, I love the calendar.

Unless I'm spacing out didn't the demo they showed of MobileME have a slide show feature for the photos? Maybe I'm thinking of something else but I could have swore they demoed it :(

Ok, I'm having troubles with my Calendar and making it sync, I made a change in my Outlook calendar and when I hit the sync button it's not doing anything, is anyone else having this problem? It was working fine the past few days but today I can only seem to get it to sync Me.com -> Outlook not the other way around

Nice of Apple to admit their screw up, I'm still having issues with the Calendar though, I created a ton of entries on my Outlook one, ran the Sync and nothing is still showing up on my MobileME one, anything I do on MobileME is syncing back to my Outlook. If it was a free service like Google's Calendar I would maybe bitch but it would be acceptable, Apple better have everything smooth quick if they want me to pay $$$'s to use this.

Ok, maybe someone can help me. I'm trying to transiting everything over to use my new Mobile Me e-mail address, but iTunes won't let me change the e-mail address on my current iTunes account to the Me.com one, it says all I can do is log in with that address.

That won't work, as all my purchases are with my OLD e-mail address. Any ideas?

Can you login with old account settings and go to account settings? you should be able to change it there.

I can log into my old account, but when you try and change the account to the Mobile Me new e-mail address, it wont let you as it says the account already exists and you can log into it.

Sure, I can log into it in iTunes, but all my purchases are under my old Apple ID, my old e-mail address.

You can, just you apparently can't go from a normal e-mail to a .mac/mobileme e-mail :(

With exchange, when you view a message in one place, doesn't it get updated as read across all platforms? (same with IMAP)

With Mobile Me, it doesn't push the update of read status, it only updates when you load up the e-mail program and it fetches the status.

Well, with my limited Exchange experience... it's your Exchange data is pulled from a central source, so it's not so much that it's changed everywhere, but rather, you only have one location to grab the data from. This is how everything manages to stay in sync, and not cause one item to look like it's read and then in another place show the item as new.

With Mobile Me, it appears that it is just syncing everything to their server, but it still has that sync process, even on the iPhone and the Web apps. For instance, delete a message on your iPhone and then quickly login to MobileMe. That message will still be there for about 15-30 secs.

This delay isn't that big of a deal, and I do think that the push to the iPhone really is a "push".. but everything else feels very much like a sync. But a pretty darn fast one, so I'm ok with it at the moment. Unless there are some HUGE improvements in this next year, though, I don't think I'll renew my subscription.
